Where Do We Go Now?

The inauguration of Joe Biden is done. He is the President of the United States. That wasn’t necessarily the outcome that I imagined or wanted, but I like many others prayed that God’s will would be done. I believe it was. Amen, so be it. Do we need to understand why? The fact is that we don’t usually know His divine plans. Now it’s time to move forward.

Since Wednesday there’s been lots of crazy comments from lots of Bible-believing folks that on social media. Many are filled with vitriol and anger. I understand those. Some are expressions of frustration and some are not even sure anymore of where to go from here. I understand that too. But for us Christians we are here with a mission, the “Great Commission”. Just because we have the liberty to express opinions, doesn’t mean that we forget about our witness and mission.

What does this mean? In short, it means that we must first stop the name calling and throwing insults and bashing people. What we must do is that we must get down to the hard work of going before God and pray fervently for the country, our leaders and for spiritual revival. And for all those that He speaks to and gives specific instructions, we must take the steps that He gives us and follow the plans that He directs.

We are not “caving in” nor are we “stepping in line” with the prevailing sin and evil around us. We should not throw out our principles and morals just because certain parties want us to or because it’s politically correct. We must still challenge the sin, the hypocrisy and lawlessness. We must hold the banner of Jesus high and be lights to a dark world!

So press on fellow Christians and know that the times are going to be tough. We likely will not enjoy the same privileges that we had in the past. We may even be persecuted! But be encouraged, by the words of Jesus. “.. I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (ESV)
